UML leaders lost moral authority: UML gen secy

CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has said that the prominent leaders of his party have lost their ' moral authority '.

Pokharel claimed that his party leaders lost their moral authority because they could not protest against the premiership of chief justice and resist the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki as the head of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

Addressing an interaction in the Capital on Wednesday, Pokhrel said, "Now the other parties have the opportunity to question the decisions of UML." He even said that the leadership has lost the authority to lead. Pokharel had always been against the party's decision to support the appointments of both Khil Raj Regmi and Lokman Singh Karki.

At a time when the four-party associated high-level political committee along with the Regmi-led government is working for the Constituent Assembly (CA) election, Pokharel raised doubts on the same. "Election has not been finalised yet. It is essential for a consensus to finalise the date for holding the CA election," said Pokharel.

Pokharel further claimed that UCPN (Maoist)'s stance on giving an opportunity to people with criminal records to stand in election, the provision of threshold for seats under the proportional representation and publicising the property details of the contenders is against the election.

Pokharel also said that UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has divided the people in the name of ethnicity and federalism.
