Dahal denies offering Rs 7.5 m in exchange for grandson

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal has refuted the reports that he had offered Rs 7.5 million to his daughter-in-law in exchange for returning his grandson .

Earlier, a Capital-based weekly newspaper had published a news report claiming that Dahal had offered the amount to his ex-daughter in law, Shrijana Tripathy, who now resides in her parental home in Kaski, for returning his grandson .

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Dahal’s personal secretariat said, “we would like to inform that the news report that Chairman Prachanda had offered Rs 7.5 million to Tripathy's family for returning his grandson is baseless,” the statement reads.

Prakash Dahal, son of UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal, who divorced earlier with Tripathy, had a son with her. He later eloped to India with party aligned student leader Bina Magar after their love affair during Everest summit. Prakash was also suspended from party duties after his love affair with Magar became public.

Tripathy, who had been residing in Dahal's residence in Lazimpat, had returned to her parental home with her son after Prakash returned from India some months back.
